Current status of the archaeological site (ortophotos, aerial photos, QTVR)
At the moment we supply plans of excavations, topographical maps:
- Topographical Maps TK 1:25 000
- Georeferenced maps of site and features and current Analysis projects in MapInfo (ID 435, 436), Esri (ID 437, 438), AutoCAD (ID 439, 440, 441, 442)
- Site Maps with location of monuments (ID 96, 97)
- Georeferenced Geomagnetic plans of the whole surveyed area (ID 349, 350)
- Surface Model: of site (ID 114), of area Wetterau (ID 113); grid width 25 m
- Arial photographs (ID 199, 2, 83)
- LIDAR 3D-Scan will provide an exact base surface. The already natural reconstructed 1:1 grave mound and ditches and wall form the supposed size of objects in the future model (except of one ditch which has got the wrong location).
- 3D attempts (ID 209-214)
Comments on modern appearance of the Glauberg ensemble The modern surface of the Glauberg is deformed: an Iron Age trench on the north eastern slope beneath the plateau and between two defensive walls is completely refilled and could only be traced in excavation profiles. The outer wall is of medieval age and doesn’t belong to the Iron Age ensemble. Medieval and modern wine terraces on the eastern and the southern slopes have alienated the former shape of the hill. An Iron Age entrance gate to the hill fort is supposed to have been in the middle of the narrow southern section of the wall. It is completely overbuilt by medieval wall construction. This fact supposes a different trace of the Iron Age road system than today. Another entrance is in the north-east.
